Hi, I’m Kimbry. My brother Tantris is here with me helping write. We heard that the Rainstorm Kids had introduced themselves to you when they were about our age and thought that was a cool idea. So while lisa-mom is at work and can’t spoil our fun, we decided to tell you about us.

We’re the Companions. Oh, not real ones. Yes, we are very social and friendly. But the real Companions are magical, white horse-like things in a bunch of books lisa-mom has read. (I’m not so sure they are real either, but that’s what lisa-mom says.) Our Talia-mom is named after a Herald (who are chosen by the Companions) in the same books. We think it’s silly to be named after horses, but we are special so maybe the magical part is okay.

We were born in a closet like the Rainstorm kids – just not the same closet. Ours is in the kitten room. We don’t really live in the closet though -- we have the whole room. It’s all ours! Well, if anyone comes to stay over night lisa-mom says we have to share our room and not be too much trouble. Trouble, us? We wouldn’t cause any problems. Not many, anyway.

[*I* wouldn’t cause any trouble. It’s my sister that’s the troublemaker in the family.]

No, I’m not! I’m just adventurous. Like escaping our bed, for example. I was just five days old when I discovered we were trapped in our bed, so I tried to escape. It took me almost a week, but I did it! I couldn’t see much yet, but I was determined to go somewhere. I wasn’t trying to get into trouble – I just wanted to explore. It took Tantris two whole weeks to climb out.

[I’m just cautious, unlike Kimbry. I wanted to see where I was going first. Now that I can see I jump the side of the bed, while she still has to climb over. Ha!]

Whatever. Anyway, we both get out now so we can play and explore. We spend our days eating, napping, and playing. We like the little shiny crinkle balls lisa-mom gave us. And we like the toy mice. We have a little snake-like thing that came from a cat show during our Talia-mom’s beauty queen days. I think she likes that one, ‘cause she took it from me to play with herself. Some of those other toys are sorta weird. Maybe we’ll like them later, but right now we just ignore them.  Our very favorite toy is each other. We like to wrestle and play together.

[I like it except when Kimbry bites me really hard. Then I yell.]

Big baby. I don’t bite that hard.

[Yes, you do. And you better quit. Talia-mom doesn’t like it when you bite hard, either.]

That reminds me… Talia-mom makes a good toy, too. We bite her feet, we bite her ears, we bite her tail, and we bat her face. And she doesn’t even mind. Mostly. Once in awhile she holds me down with her paw so I can’t be so rowdy.

[She never does that to me. See, I told you, you bite too hard!]

Hmpf! Our Shadow-dad spends a lot of time with us. He washes us and cuddles with us when Talia-mom is gone. I think he’s going to be lots of fun to play with when we get bigger. Right now he just steals our toys. His favorite place in the kitten room is on the cat tree in front of the window. Soon we’re going to be able to get up there with him. We’ve been practicing our climbing skills.

Speaking of practicing… this writing isn’t nearly as much fun as the other things we do. So I think I’ll go try to climb the kitten condo.

[Wait for me – I want to climb the condo, too!]

(Please note that you will see a number of photos of our cats and kittens that I've taken outside in a natural setting. The LostWoods cats do NOT go outside unsupervised! When we do go outside for pictures and occasional adventures, there is always one person and usually two watching them closely. We do have an outside, fully enclosed run to which the older cats are allowed access, but even then we check on them often.)
