Pedigree

Shira is my first Wegie. From the first day in the household, she let me know that she was The Princess Cat. As she has matured, she has become The Queen of Everything and runs the household quite effectively. She loves to go for walks on her leash and sits by the front door begging to go out. Her favorite toy is her fishing feather, which she carries all over the house if I don’t put it up. Shira follows me everywhere at home, but she isn’t much of a lap cat. Instead, she perches on the computer monitor, sits in my husband’s desk chair, or sprawls on the floor at my feet when I sit down. Shira was also a great mommy -- very protective of her little ones, but also willing to share them with visitors, as long as we all behaved! I can't thank Mindy and Bob Kurka of Meisterhaus enough for trusting me with Shira. Shira is the mother of Litter #1 (Rainstorm Kids), Litter #3 (The Wayfarers), Litter #5 (The Gifts), Litter #7 (The Wedding Gifts) and Litter #10 (the Victory Kittens), Litter #13 (Cloud's Legacy) and Litter #14 (Shira's Finale). Shira is now retired from breeding.

Shadow, aka Peanut, is our first boy. I'd long admired Patti Harriman's wonderful cats and when I got the chance to make Shadow a part of the LostWoods family, Patti didn't have to ask me twice! He gave us all a scare when he decided to swallow a peanut when he was seven weeks old, thus requiring emergency surgery to remove the peanut from his intestines -- and gaining the nickname "Peanut" as a result. Luckily, he recovered from his misadventure. Shadow is the father of Litter #2 (The Companions), Litter #3 (The Wayfarers), Litter #4 (The Travelers), Litter #5 (The Gifts), Litter #6 (The Heritage Litter), Litter #7 (The Wedding Gifts), Litter #8 (WOT Rulers 1), Litter #9 (the New Companions), Litter #11 (the Little Lions), Litter #13 (Cloud's Legacy), Litter #14 (Shira's Finale), and Litter #16 (the Belgariad Babies). He also fathered a litter with Felis Audax Muffet of Wegiekatt. Now that Peanut is retired, I look forward to him being not just a wonderful dad-cat, but a beloved pet once again. Thank you, Patti, for giving up your Peanut and letting him live with me!

Once again Mindy & Bob of Meisterhaus came through for me. I wanted a blue tabby and white Wegie desperately. When Mindy called me up to say that Talia was mine if I wanted her I was overjoyed. Talia is Shira's niece and shares her sweet and calm nature. Since we've had her, she has hardly stopped purring. Every morning she comes in to wake me up with purring and head butts. Talia has also been an absolute delight to show -- posing and purring for the judges like the little beauty queen she is. Visit the Show News page to see Talia's show awards. Talia is the mom of Litter #2 (The Companions), Litter #4 (The Travelers), Litter #6 (The Heritage Litter), Litter #9 (the New Companions) Litter #12 (the Montana Kids), Litter #17 (the Mallorean Babies), and Litter #18 (WOT II). Even though Talia is spayed, she still loves kittens and is happy to let them nurse on Auntie Talia.

Bria has been adopted and lives in California.

Abrianna, aka Bria, was a lovely addition to the LostWoods family. She has beautiful bright coloring -- just what I was looking for to add some spice to my blue and brown bunch. Bria's profile is absolutely perfect and she has beautiful expressive eyes. Bria enjoys chasing teasers and the laser pointer, climbing the cat tree and playing. Bria is mom to Litter #8 (WOT Rulers 1) and Litter #11 (the Little Lions). Thanks to Cheryl McConnell at Vanir cattery for letting Bria be part of our family.

Kalira, aka Lira Bug, is one of our Travelers. She had conjunctivitis when she was young, so I held onto her extra long, wanting to make sure she'd be a healthy addition to someone's home. All along she was my son Justin's favorite kitten and somehow it just became a given that she'd be his cat forever. I finally registered her in both our names making it official. Lira has developed into a stunning girl with a fantastic coat and incredible boning. Lira was one of the featured Norwegian Forest Cats in the September 2005 issue of Cat Fancy magazine. She also inherited her Talia-mom's beauty queen presence. She's now retired from showing after earning a Regional Winner award in CFA, but you can see Lira's show results on the Show News page. She's a mighty bug hunter and begs to go outside so she can chase bugs in the back yard.

I wasn't planning to keep Dilan. Yes, he has a fantastic personality. Yes, I love him dearly. But as with most my kittens, I planned to place him in the perfect home where he'd be loved and spoiled by someone else. But it seems most people were interested in girls this year -- or brown or blue tabby boys. A few people expressed interest in Dilan, but for one reason or another it didn't work out. Then I came home from a show and Ken said that if we had to keep Dilan "the world wouldn't come to an end". When I protested that I was trying to find him a home, Ken made it clear that Dilan was welcome to stay. Well! It's not every day that Ken tells me a kitten is "less annoying than most of the Stinkies" and lets me keep a kitten without me begging and negotiating - not to mention not including him in the cat limit count at our house. So Dilan is staying at LostWoods as a very loving and entertaining pet. I may show him now and then. Check the Show News page to see how he's doing.

I wasn't really planning to get another male this summer, but then Beau was born. From the first time I saw him I thought he was something special and Brenda felt the same way. He has a perfect profile, a nice chin, beautiful eyes, distinct markings, and a great feel to his coat. After watching him develop and having many conversations with me, Brenda convinced her mom that Niko needed a companion -- after all, they are half brothers and only two weeks apart in age. And so, Beau became Brenda's and my cat. Beau is the father of the Winter Gifts. We are planning to show this handsome boy (see the Show News page for his results) in Premiership/alter class now that he's been neutered. Thanks to Sondra and Brian at Rockatts for this wonderful guy!

Comet has been adopted and lives in Colorado.

We're so happy to have Comet! Brenda Mosal and I co-owned Firestorm and it was devastating to lose him. We both knew we wanted another little red man, however I wasn't looking all that hard to find us a boy right away. I'd been talking with Barbara Midura of Ouijakatz about a kitten out of Galaxy and Tristan for some time and one day Barbara posted new pictures of Comet's litter. I asked if she'd placed him yet. Turns out she'd been thinking of keeping him for herself, but if we wanted him she'd let us have him. Now who could resist that adorable face?! Comet lived with Brenda and her family, where he was best known as "Comedy" for his entertaining antics. Check out the Show News page to see how he's doing in the show ring. Comet is dad to Litter #10 (the Victory Kittens), Litter #12 (the Montana Kids), Litter #15 (the Leprechauns), Litter #17 (the Mallorean Babies), and the Rockatts "B" Litter the Rockatts "C" Litter, Rockatts "D" Litter and the Rockatts "E" Litter. Thanks to Barbara and Brandy for our Comet.

Zeke

(Photo © 2002 Justin Murphy)

Zeke is my rescue cat. He came from the Colorado Humane Society. Zeke had a tough beginning to life. He was abandoned as a tiny kitten after someone had cut his whiskers off. He was hand-raised by a human mom and didn’t know much about being a cat until he came to live at LostWoods. He is very affectionate with his human and feline family. Zeke is the cat voted “Most Likely to Be Sitting on Mom’s Lap”. Zeke befriended Shira when she came to live with us and has done the same with Talia, Shadow, Bria and Comet. He has also proven to be a loving "uncle" to the kittens, playing with and grooming them. He just doesn't like it when they bite his tail!

See our current breeding cats on the Cats page.

(Please note that you will see a number of photos of our cats and kittens that I've taken outside in a natural setting. The LostWoods cats do NOT go outside unsupervised! When we do go outside for pictures and occasional adventures, there is always one person and usually two watching them closely. We do have an outside, fully enclosed run to which the older cats are allowed access, but even then we check on them often.)
