After months of me trying to convince Kalispell that she should allow Fin to court her, she finally quit playing hard to get and allowed him to mate with her. Then she followed the same course as last year, turning into a huge round ball of a cat who looked like she'd swallowed a melon whole. Once again I called her "Kali Cantaloupe" and her unborn babies "the little melons". Kali delivered the babies without any assistance -- I went in to check on her first thing in the morning and found her and five contented babies happily snuggled up together in the closet. I guess this was her way of reminding me that cats have been having kittens without human intervention for a long time!

When we do go outside for pictures and occasional adventures, there is always one person and usually two watching them closely.
